Schalke may struggle to afford permanent deal for Jean-Clair Todibo

Schalke are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona loanee Jean-Clair Todibo on a permanent basis but may struggle to afford the centre-back.

German daily Bild report his future at the club is uncertain even though he has impressed recently and was voted the club’s Player of the Month for February.

The Bundesliga side have the option to sign Todibo permanently for an initial fee of €25m plus €5 m in add-ons and see him as a possible successor for Ozan Kabak.

However, the current coronavirus outbreak is likely to place any permanent move to Schalke in some jeopardy.

Bild report his price tag may make a permanent deal problematic and also point to the fact they already have four other centre-backs on the books.
